Why You Should Get Cosmetic Dentistry Before Your Wedding Day By fairfaxfamilydentalcare on December 13, 2023

a happy couple, embracingHaving a beautiful smile is something most people want every day. But on a person's wedding day, they often feel it's especially important to look their best. At Fairfax Family Dental Care, serving patients throughout Fairfax County, VA, we discuss why you should get cosmetic dentistry before your wedding day. In this blog post, we discuss dental makeovers for your wedding, and how they can help you look great for your special occasion, and many years beyond that.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures before a wedding. At our practice, we use the BriteSmile® and REMBRANDT® teeth whitening systems in our office to significantly brighten your smile in just one dental appointment. The in-office procedure is a great option for brides and grooms since the treatment can be performed closer to the wedding date in case they decide they want to quickly and dramatically improve their appearance shortly before the wedding. We also offer custom-made teeth whitening trays for patients who wish to whiten their teeth at home.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are known for their ability to mask a range of cosmetic dental imperfections, including discolored, misshapen, small, crooked, gapped, and chipped teeth. If your front-facing teeth are affected by any of these issues, you may be a good candidate for porcelain veneers. The treatment process takes two to three weeks. During the first appointment, the teeth are reshaped and impressions are taken so our partner lab can craft your veneers. Once they are complete, we can place your permanent veneers.

Smile Makeovers

Smile makeovers include at least two dental procedures to improve the appearance of your smile. For example, if you plan ahead before your wedding, you can undergo Invisalign® treatment and then have teeth whitening done to both straighten and whiten your teeth. We can combine different dental services to help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.

Dental Implants

Some patients have needs that go beyond treating cosmetic imperfections. For example, if you are missing teeth, replacing them with dental implants can have a positive effect on your oral health and appearance. At our practice in Fairfax County, we can place dental implants and attach them to restorations such as dental crowns, dental bridges, and dentures to address tooth loss. However, the process of getting dental implants does take some planning and time. For example, some patients require preparatory procedures such as tooth extraction, a bone graft, or a sinus lift, some of which may require a healing period. In addition, it takes three to six months for the dental implants to integrate with surrounding bones and tissues before the final restoration can be placed.
