Professional Affiliations
Dr. Kirksey holds Diplomate status in the American Orthodontic Society (AOS) as well as the International Association of Orthodontics (IAO). Both the AOS and IAO include general dentists, pediatric dentists, and orthodontists as members who provide orthodontic care directly for their patients.
The Diplomate status is the highest level of excellence in orthodontic clinical knowledge and skills awarded by each of these orthodontic organizations.
The AOS Diplomate board examination has among the highest standards in the field of orthodontics. Members must complete three levels of rigorous examination and peer review.
Diplomate status is given to members who have completed at least 500 Continual Dental Education (CDE) hours, passed a written examination, and presented 10 completed cases.

Why Dr. Kirksey Chose Fairfax
Dr. Kirksey has had a lifelong interest in many of the scientific and cultural resources based in Northern Virginia and the DC metro area, such as the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institution.
Dr. Kirksey moved from Richmond to Fairfax in 1986 to be closer to these organizations. He then founded Fairfax Family Dental Care, our private dental group practice.
